A tour of Port-Au-Prince

This blog contains photos and video that is not suitable for young children.

After a long journey to Haiti, I met 5 Medishare mental health workers at the Children's Home. Sherri, the home's director, took us out into the city of Port-au-Prince for in unforgetable journey. Below is the soleil tent city. This was and is the worst part

Above: People in the market/tent city
The UN is all over... but all I saw them doing was driving around with machine guns.

The buildings/rumble are still there. There is no effort to recover any bodies that are underneath it. Under each building there could be a few or hundreds. The only buildings that are demolished are government buildings. They did not recover any bodies from it. They just bulldozed over it.

Right: Power lines hanging by rigging.

Below: The cathedral that was completely destroyed. There was a beautiful rose stained glass window in the front entrance. Right: The school that was destroyed and killed hundreds of children. It's already plowed over.

The above picture is the palace that was destroyed. The tent city is right outside the gate of it.

Above: The palace that was destroyed. The question is where is the government and why do they want so much money to do nothing?? The children stated, "I want a million dollars. Give me one dollar for picture." I want a million dollars too!
Below: The palace is directly across from tens of thousands of tents. The little boy in the picture that a sparkley brown dress on.
Below: A voodoo shrine to the president... He can erect this but isn't able to take care of his people.

Above: This brings a new meaning to "watch where you walk"

Rumble just laying in the streets

I love how they put a door on a plastic tarp.

Right: The Medishare tent - it's a trauma 1 hospital by U of Miami

After a crazy!! drive through the city, Sherri took us to this nice restaurant for yummy food!

We made it back to the camp... a view from the guest house balcony. The sunset on my first day...
